Aqua Divers Club, a Padi 5* Gold Palm Resort, located at the Calypso Hotel, km 48.5 Athens – Souniou Avenue is a stone’s throw from Athens, 25 minutes from El. Venizelos Airport and not far from the famous temple of Poseidon situated at Cap Sounio. The club offers a comprehensive selection of PADI diving courses with all the necessary multi media equipment for teaching/training purposes, daily boat and shore fun dives, and equipment for rental or sale. It is one of the few diving clubs in the Attica region with its feet or fins almost touching the water.

The Calypso Hotel, where the dive shop is situated, was established during the 1960’s and was one of the bases utilized by Jacques Cousteau during his visits to Greece. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jean Michel, his son, stayed at this hotel during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. So the Calypso Hotel has a long association with the history of scuba diving.

The diving club operates all year round, seven days a week, and is situated in one of the most beautiful bays on the Attica coast, with spectacular views towards Sounio, Arsida and Patroklos Islands and the open sea.

The dive sites are varied and well protected, with breathtaking topography and an abundance of marine life.

From the diving shop it only takes one minute to reach the beach for a shore dive or the boat for a diving excursion to the islands. .

The underwater visibility is one of the best in Europe, ranging from 10 to 40 metres, but is dependent on the prevailing weather conditions. 

Water temperature reaches 26 – 28 degrees Celsius in July/August and 12 – 13 degrees Celsius in March/April (the coldest months). So diving is possible throughout the year and the appropriate wet suit is available depending on the water temperature.

The instructors are multi lingual: English, French, German and Greek and all PADI courses are offered in these languages.

All programmes are either private lessons or groups up to a maximum of five students, at times that will fit into your schedule.

All diving courses offered, Bubblemaker through to Dive Master rating, follow PADI standards and lead to certification. Instruction for beginners takes place in the security of the sheltered bay of the Calypso Hotel, with a depth ranging from 0- 10 metres and its own house reef, where over 30 different species have been spotted amongst its interesting rock formations.

Special tailor made programmes are available for children 10 + years and can lead to PADI JUNIOR OPEN WATER DIVER certification.

Private lessons for the Assistant Instructor Course are available on request.

Full day excursions by boat to the nearby islands can be arranged for snorkelling/scuba diving activities with lunch and refreshments included in the price..

A free transportation service is available to and from the diving centre for a minimum of 2 divers/snorkellers if the pick up is within a 10 kms radius of the club.

Within a radius of three kilometres from the diving club the following activities are available for non scuba divers: Windsurfing at the famous Anavissos Beach, water ski, wakeboards, rings, bananas, kayak, pedallos, canoes at either Deep Blue Sea Sports, Anavissos Bay or at the Eden Beach Hotel Club, Anavissos.
